The OMA (Out from the Margins) Award winners were announced on October 14, 2022. I am honored and grateful to be among the eight fabulous authors and illustrators selected for the inaugural award.
The OMA Award is a new and substantial award for early-career underrepresented creators of children's books, who might otherwise not be seen or heard. Books and illustrations by the winners will be promoted with all the fanfare and support of the SCBWI (Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators).
My book, Old to Joy, which I wrote and illustrated, is the one I chose to submit for consideration of the award. Old to Joy is being published by Gnome Road Publishing and will be released on September 5, 2023. The cover reveal will be coming out soon.
